Strengthening critical infrastructure protection through digital twins
PITHIA is FEAC Engineering’s Digital Twin framework, designed to provide real-time awareness, predictive capabilities and decision support for critical infrastructure and complex engineering systems. The framework combines high-fidelity multiphysics simulations, sensor integration, artificial intelligence, reduced-order models and advanced data analytics within a unified digital environment.
Its modular architecture enables the deployment of specialised Digital Twin applications addressing challenges such as infrastructure integrity, structural health monitoring, asset protection, predictive maintenance, underwater acoustics, signature management and operational optimisation. By combining engineering-grade simulations with operational data, PITHIA bridges the gap between design and operation, enabling more resilient, efficient and informed decision-making. The framework gained European recognition through the EDA Innovation Prize 2025, awarded for its contribution to the protection of critical maritime infrastructure.
EUDIS coaching journey
With the support of their coach, Michele Fiorini, FEAC Engineering further aligned PITHIA with the needs and requirements of the European defence sector. The coaching helped the company gain valuable insights into defence standards, capability frameworks, technology taxonomies and operational requirements, while refining the positioning of PITHIA for defence and dual-use applications and clarifying how to navigate the European defence landscape.
